ED released updated Schoolwide Guidance

Dear SIG and Title I Directors:

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has revised the fiscal year (FY) 2015 SIG allocations to award additional funds to States as shown in the attachment. The additional funds became available because ED did not need to use the maximum amount made available by the FY 2015 appropriation for national activities.

As a result, ED has issued States supplemental FY 2015 SIG awards in G5 that reflect the revised allocations. These funds are available for use consistent with each State’s approved SIG application that covers funds made available from the FY 2015 and FY 2016 appropriations. ED anticipates making FY 2016 SIG awards in October.

In addition, I wanted to let you know that this morning ED released updated Schoolwide Guidance. This is one in a series of updates to the Department’s guidance documents as we transition to ESSA. The updated Guidance, which details the use of Title I funds for serving all students in a schoolwide program school, can be found here.

The guidance that the Department released on this topic in July 2015 remains applicable through the 2016-2017 school year and is available on our website at: https://www2.ed.gov/policy/elsec/guid/eseatitleiswguidance.pdf

Respectfully,

Patrick Rooney
